F5 iSeries and Virtual Appliances – Do You Need to Upgrade?

If your organisation relies on F5 appliances to deliver critical applications, it’s important to be aware of some upcoming lifecycle changes.

Overview

From 1 January 2027, the F5 iSeries hardware platform will reach End of Software Support (EoSS). After this date, F5 will no longer provide software updates, security patches, or standard vendor support. In addition, v17.1 perpetual virtual appliances will stop receiving software development updates and technical support from 31 March 2027.

While these dates may seem some way off, continuing to run platforms beyond their supported lifecycle can increase security, compliance, and operational risks. It can also make it harder to take advantage of newer F5 capabilities, including improved performance, automation, and cloud integration.

Planning ahead allows organisations to refresh their F5 environment in a controlled and cost-effective way.
